Overview of NSW Teacher Pay Scale 2025
New South Wales teacher salaries relative to the rest of the country are amongst the most competitive. Averaging between $85,000 - $129,948 per year, the NSW graduate teachers salary ranks third in the country, only behind the ACT ($88,615) and the Northern Territory ($92,215). On the other end of the range, the senior teacher salary ranks lower, somewhat due to the absence of extra salary packages and incentives that states with more rural areas may have to attract qualified teachers and talent.

All NSW government schools follow the same salary structure outlined in the enterprise agreement. Salary progression is straightforward, with teachers moving up the tiers based bands for every year of experience they have. An experienced teacher may also have greater allowances and leave benefits.
